Will There be a PS5 Version of Cyberpunk 2077?

The free next-gen upgrades for Ps5 Cyberpunk 2077, designed for the PS5, are set to arrive in late 2021, according to CD Projekt Red. Cyberpunk was launched on December 10, 2020, and the latest upgrade is expected after a whole year. Read on to get further insight.

Troubles with the Game… 

Even though the game had a considerable hype train behind it, it ran horrendously on Xbox One consoles and PS4.  As a result, CD Projekt Red began issuing refunds to anyone who requested one.

Sony eventually chose to withdraw Ps5 Cyberpunk 2077 from the PlayStation Store entirely until the game’s quality improved. And the title has now been reintroduced months later.

Cyberpunk 2077 has resurfaced on the PlayStation Store, with a statement advising PS4 owners to play it on a PS4 Pro or PS5.

The developers have cautioned them against playing it on a standard PS4. Given this, some players may want to wait for the proper PS5 version of Cyberpunk 2077.

Good Sale Despite Refunds?

Despite the refunds, CD Projekt Red states that in the first half of the year, it earned z471 million PLN ($124 million US) and made a net profit of $27.5 million.

That was lower than typical, according to vice president and CFO Piotr Nielubowicz. While it was driven by sales of its two biggest games, spending on Cyberpunk 2077 upgrades took a significant chunk out of the profits.

Upgradation Option…

No release date has been confirmed as of yet. But, CD Projekt Red has at least set a delivery frame for the game’s next-gen upgrade. The Cyberpunk 2077 PS5 upgrade will be released in the second half of this year, according to CD Projekt Red.

Anyone who has the PS4 version of Cyberpunk 2077, either digitally or on disc, will be able to upgrade for free to the PS5 version.

More details on how Cyberpunk 2077 on PS5 will take advantage of the next-generation console’s unique features or beefed-up technology isn’t released yet, but it should be available soon.

How are the Reviews?

Critics’ first reactions to Ps5 Cyberpunk 2077 were overwhelmingly positive, owing to the game’s ability to run on strong PC hardware.

However, Ps5 Cyberpunk 2077 on PS5 should provide a similar experience to the PC version in terms of performance and graphics.

Therefore, the next-gen version of the game may be the game’s second chance to impact console players.

Furthermore, CD Projekt Red will continue to release Ps5 Cyberpunk 2077 patches to address the game’s lingering faults, ensuring that it will be in much better form by the time the PS5 version is out.

New Patches?

The game recently received a large 1.3 patch, which could help prepare the way for the next gen. And the notion is that there won’t be a 1.4.

Thus, we can expect a direct up-gradation to 2.0 when the next-gen arrives. In addition, the PS5 and Xbox Series X versions will be a free upgrade for existing PS4 and Xbox 360 owners.

The PS5 currently runs the PS4 Pro version, whereas the Xbox One X/S plays the Xbox One X version.

As per certain gamers, these are mere speculations. The most recent webcast unveiled patch 1.3, as well as hints at upcoming expansion material in 2022. However, there was no mention of the next-generation release.
